Kiitetyn käsikirjoittaja-ohjaajan Alexander Paynen neljäs elokuva (aiemmat Kansalainen Ruth, Vaalit ja About Schmidt) kertoo kahden kaveruksen viiniretkestä, jonka aikana parannetaan maailmaa, pohditaan rakkauden ja ystävyyden vastoinkäymisiä, yksinäisyyden tuskaa sekä Pinotin ja Cabernetin iankaikkista taistelua.
Miles (Paul Giamatti), avioeron jälkeisessä kriisissä painiskeleva viiniharrastaja ja pöytälaatikkokirjailija, vie vanhan ystävänsä, urallaan iltaruskon puolella olevan näyttelijän nimeltä Jack (Thomas Haden Church), tutustumaan kalifornialaisen Santa Ynezin laakson viinitiloihin viikkoa ennen Jackin häitä.

The Thirsty Bear wine agency is organising a tasting of California Pinot Noir for the screening of the cult classic wine movie Sideways at Cinema Orion! The tasting is taking place in the lobby of the cinema at 5pm-6 pm and the movie starts at 6 pm.
The fourth film by acclaimed writer-director Alexander Payne (previous films include Citizen Ruth, Election and About Schmidt) tells the story of two friends reaching middle age with not much to show but disappointment embarking on a week-long road trip through California’s wine country, reflecting on the trials of love and friendship, the pain of loneliness and the eternal battle of Pinot and Cabernet.
Miles (Paul Giamatti), a divorced wine enthusiast and writer in crisis, takes an old friend Jack (Thomas Haden Church), an actor on the downward slope of his career, on a tour of the vineyards of California’s Santa Ynez Valley a week before Jack’s wedding.

California Pinot Noir Tasting by Thirsty Bear
Tasting two different Pinot Noirs from wine regions that are around 600 kilometres apart will give you an idea of the diversity of California’s coastline. We will also have a short presentation before the movie starts where we will hear more from the winemakers about their vineyards and how they make their excellent Pinot Noir.
