Nuori Björk tekee herkän esikoisroolin vasten jylhiä islantilaismaisemia Nietzchka Keenen ylistetyssä debyyttielokuvassa The Juniper Tree.
Grimmin veljesten samannimiseen satuun perustuva tarina sijoittuu keskiaikaiseen Islantiin. Margit (Björk) ja hänen isosiskonsa Katla (Bryndis Petra Bragadóttir) pakenevat turvaan sen jälkeen, kun heidän äitinsä on poltettu kuoliaaksi noituuden vuoksi.
