Raul kasvoi isänsä Viktorin, neuvostoaikaisen KGB-upseerin, autoritaarisen ja ideologisesti pakkomielteisen kasvatuksen alla. Viktor syytti vaimoaan kansanviholliseksi, ja hän katosi KGB:n toimesta eikä Raul saanut koskaan tietää mitä tapahtui. Aikuisiällä Raul seurasi isänsä jalanjälkiä kommunistina ja vakoojana. Eräänä päivänä hän joutuu katutappeluun, jossa tappaa vahingossa hyökkääjän ja pelastaa nuoren kiinalaisen naisen You Xian. He lähtevät yhdessä pakomatkalle poliisin seuratessa ja Raulin suunnitellessa matkaa Kiinaan – suunnitelma, joka ei koskaan toteudu.
Elokuva on puhuttu viroksi ja tekstitetty englanniksi. Elokuva esitetään Viron itsenäisyyspäivänä 24.2. klo 17:15. Elokuvan ohjaaja Andres Puustusmaan vierailu näytökseen on valitettavasti peruttu sairastumisen vuoksi.

Raul’s father Viktor, a Soviet-era Estonian militia officer, shaped his son with communist ideology. Raul was raised in a violent and pathological attitude of the despotic father, blindly driven by the ideology. Driven by his jealousy of his wife and her bohemian lifestyle, Viktor, being a high ranking KGB officer, stated her as a predator against the Soviet nation, and one early morning she is taken by KGB agents to an unknown destination. as it happened to many of Soviet people. The whole of his life, Raul didn’t know what happened to his mother, and why she disappeared that sudden. Now, when Viktor is old, Raul takes care of him.
Raul followed in his father’s footsteps, and being a convinced communist, joined a spy ring. But unlike his father, he didn’t achieve big success and high rank. For years he is a ”small fish”, who just passes secret information. One day Raul learns from his superior, that an agent from their ring, was discovered and put in jail. During 24 hours Raul should disappear. The same day Raul runs into a brutal fight scene on the street. The victim is a young Chinese woman You Xia. Trying to help her, Raul accidentally kills one of the men. He takes the woman home, cleans her wounds, changes torn clothes. Next morning Raul is ready to leave. You Xiabegs him not to leave her alone and to take her with him. They start their journey together. The police is following them. Raul’s plan is to reach China. The plan which never going to happen.
The screening will be held on Estonia’s Independence Day on February 24 at 17:15. Director Andres Puustusmaa won’t attend the screening after all due to illness.
