GHOST IN THE MACHINE

Elokuvan ohjaaja Valerie Veatchin aiemmat Sundancessa ensi-iltansa saaneet elokuvat Me @ the Zoo (HBO) ja Love Child (HBO) tutkivat, kuinka nousevat teknologiat muokkaavat identiteettiä, kulttuuria ja globaalia valtaa.

Näytös järjestetään TO 22.10. KLO 17:15. Yhteistyössä DocPoint  – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival.

Ghost in the Machine (dir. Valerie Veatch) is a gripping and urgently relevant investigative documentary that exposes the buried history of artificial intelligence, not as a neutral system of algorithms, but as a technology shaped by racism, misogyny, eugenics, and entrenched structures of power long before it entered everyday life.

Rejecting the notion of AI as inevitable or objective, the film traces how myths of progress and efficiency have obscured deeper political and cultural agendas, revealing the ideological foundations beneath the systems now reshaping modern society.

The film is directed by Valerie Veatch, whose past Sundance-premiering films Me @ the Zoo (HBO) and Love Child (HBO) explore how emerging technologies reshape identity, culture, and global power.

This new film is her most ambitious work yet – over eight chapters, Veatch helms an urgent excavation of the philosophical, cultural, and political forces driving the global AI boom.

After the screening there will be a discussion with Valerie Veatch, Independent Documentary Filmmaker (joining online) and
Pierre Noro, Lecturer, SciencesPo Paris and Associate Expert, Tech & Global Affairs Innovation Hub, Paris School of International Affairs, hosted by moderator Nitin Sawhney, Docent in Computer Science, University of Helsinki

The screening will be held on Thursday, 22 October at 17:15.
This film premiere of Ghost in the Machine is co-hosted with DocPoint  – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival.
