Arkkitehtuurin ja elokuvan teemailloissa esitetään tänä kesänä Cinema Orionin kattoremontin kunniaksi kaksi elokuvaa katoista. Tiloissa elokuvissa -minisarjan päättää remontin jälkeen esitettävä A Serious Man.
Larry Gopnik on hyvä mies. Hän on rakastava aviomies, vastuuntuntoinen isä ja työlleen omistautunut professori, joka yrittää aina tehdä asiat oikein – niin pienet kuin suuretkin. Eräänä päivänä asiat alkavat kuitenkin mennä pieleen. Larryn vaimo jättää hänet syistä, joita ei osaa edes itse selittää, ja vaimon uusi rakastaja onnistuu vakuuttamaan Larryn siitä, että juuri tämän pitää muuttaa pois yhteisestä kodista – lasten edun vuoksi tietenkin. Myös Larryn ura on yllättäen vaakalaudalla, koska työpaikalle alkaa sataa nimettömiä kirjeitä, jotka syyttävät häntä perättömästi erinäisistä petoksista. Maailma yksinkertaisesti kääntyy Larryä vastaan.

In the Architecture and Film theme evenings this summer, two rooftop-themed films will be screened in honor of Cinema Orion’s roof renovation. The Films in Spaces mini-series concludes, after the renovation, with A Serious Man.
Larry Gopnik is a good man—a loving husband, a responsible father, and a dedicated professor who always tries to do the right thing, both in small matters and large. But one day, things begin to go wrong. Larry’s wife leaves him for reasons she can’t even explain herself, and her new lover manages to convince Larry that he should be the one to move out of their shared home—for the sake of the children, of course. Larry’s career is suddenly at risk as well, as anonymous letters begin arriving at his workplace, falsely accusing him of various misconducts. The world simply turns against him.
